Om Home – The place to stay in Otres!

If you are heading to the south coast of Cambodia you definitely want to check out Otres Beach. The 3km white sand stretch of beach here is far nicer than the beaches that the nearby town of Sihanoukville offers. First of all you should decide where exactly you want to stay; Otres One, Otres Two or Otres Village. We went with the latter as it is a little cheaper and definitely more peaceful than staying directly on the beach and it’s only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach anyway. Otres Village is an upcoming area and you will find lots of restaurants and quirky shops to check out.

Nestled away in Otres Village is the fabulous Om Home guesthouse. We booked Om Home for two reasons. Firstly, we were coming back from a very basic bungalow on Koh Rong and wanted a clean place to stay and a bit of luxury for a few nights! Secondly, although we are backpacking, as we’re a couple we tend to look for something a little nicer and more private than basic backpacker dormitory type accommodation. Om Home ticked both boxes!

We booked a private bungalow with air-conditioning for a very reasonable price for three nights. The room and en-suite bathroom were both very spacious, extremely clean and pretty much brand new as the resort has only been open a few months. Outside you also have your own private area with two chairs and a table for relaxing in the sun.

There is also a calm and relaxing common area to sit in with free coffee and water on offer all day.

The staff were so friendly, caring and helpful especially Deima who made us both feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. If you are visiting Otres and looking for peace and quiet, somewhere to relax and exceptional service that makes you feel at home immediately then look no further than Om Home! If you are exploring the rest of Cambodia be sure to check out our blog – Backpacking Cambodia: Must see places! and The three must see temples of Angkor Wat!
